Background

Plain Pond allotments (near the second rugby ground in Wiveliscombe) is a small, friendly site which has been owned by the Town Council since 1982. Residents of Wiveliscombe and the surrounding area can rent a full, half or quarter plot (depending on availability) in accord with a Tenancy Agreement. Tenancies run from 1st January for one year and plot-holders pay an annual rent directly to the council.

Why Plain Pond?
Plain Pond is an area of Wiveliscombe. Local legend has it that Plain Pond was the site of stews (or ponds), stocked with fish to supply the Bishop's Manor and probably other homes. A small pond is shown on the 1887 & 1930 maps of the area.

The Plain Pond Allotments Association
The Association was formed in 2005 and refers collectively to the plot-holders at Plain Pond allotments. A committee is voted in each year at the AGM. The Association committee administers the Association’s funds and acts as a point of contact with the Town Council. The Association has its own constitution, setting out its objectives and governance.
