Never too Late

It is 10 years this week since we took on our plot. It was a little neglected but we were able to get the majority of it under some kind of cultivation the first year. Of course, everything was late going in and it was a bit of a rush to catch up, however we had plenty to eat that year, starting with a bunch of radish on 5th June. Many other crops followed, including sugar snap peas and kohl rabi picked on 11th July.

I like to keep a diary of such things as it helps put things into perspective. Things have got off to a slow start in 2014 for many people, because of the earlier wet weather. Some of the ground is still quite heavy in places. It's worth looking back through the years to remind ourselves that we will get there if we persevere now. And the last few days have been glorious, so many plot holders have been able to catch up, as we have. It's important to put the time in when the weather is favourable - housework and the ironing can wait for a rainy day
