Compost Heap Residents

Every time I uncover and dig my compost heap to try and reduce it a bit, I find frogs and toads galore. Last time it was these two little toads snuggled together in a hollow, plus a large frog and a tiny one.

I am feeling really guilty about making them homeless – I will have to leave some of the heap and its’ cover for them. I don’t want them abandoning my plot as they are good slug and snail eaters.
