Flower Show Success!

On Saturday 16th August the 100th Wiveliscombe Flower Show was held at Kingsmead School and for the first time we had an allotment association stand showcasing the Plain Pond Allotments. Our stand featured our allotment "elder statesman" which drew great interest - especially his quotes of gardening wisdom.

As well as the stand, a number of our members entered a wide range of vegetable and flower classes with great success. Prizes were plentiful, with two trophies and a range of certificates amongst the haul.

The sun shone and the show attracted very good attendance. People not only enjoyed the competition classes but also the Town Band played and there was a vintage car display. The usual ice cream, teas and cakes made the whole afternoon a wonderful showcase for the community of Wiveliscombe.

It was a real delight to be part of the Wiveliscombe Flower Show and well done to those who worked so hard to put it all together and to those of our membership who took home cups and certificates.
