Reminders...

First, a quick reminder that plots should be cultivated by the end of April - this is a condition of our Tenancy Agreement with the Town Council. For new members, don't panic, we don't expect you to have completely cleared and planted up your plots, just to have made a good start and show progress.

Secondly, a timely reminder to everyone that whilst the allotments are a great place to be, they are by their very nature, also full of dangers. Plot clearing time is particularly bad with rotavators, cultivators and bonfires.

Poisons such as slug pellets, pesticides and artificial fertilisers all need to be properly handled and distributed. They can be deadly to children, pets and wildlife when used incorrectly. It is a good idea to read the instructions carefully each year - and make sure they are securely locked away at all times.

Please remember also not to leave tools lying around or other trip hazards and take care, especially when operating machinery or driving on the allotments. Let's all stay safe.
