Goodbye and Hello

Most of you probably know that Charlie is giving up his plot at the end of the year. He has reclaimed some of the garden at home and installed some raised beds where he plans to continue growing vegetables.

Katie has been waiting for an allotment for some time and she was set to inherit plot 4B in the new year. However, Charlie has kindly agreed to a long handover period, starting straight away, which means that Katie, and her partner, Michael, can make use of the autumn to plan their new plot, maybe build a compost bin and even get some veg in for over-wintering.

Charlie still has plenty of veg in the allotment, which he will continue to harvest for the remainder of the year and Katie has agreed to work around this whilst taking on the responsibility for keeping the plot tidy and weed-free! "No pressure, then!" she said. Meanwhile, Katie's daughter Mollie was busy eyeing up the raspberries... and the blackberries... and even the courgettes!

Whilst we will miss Charlie, with his perpetual good humour, all is not lost. You will be pleased to hear that Charlie, (and his mattock!) has agreed to return for a spot of digging and plot clearing whenever he is needed. So, if you have a problem; if no one else can help; and if you can find him... maybe you can call on Charlie!

Meanwhile, from all of us, a warm welcome to Katie and Michael. Do stop and say hello if you see them, clearing weeds, in the rain.
