The Paddocks Pay a Visit

A group of children visited the allotments last week and absolutely loved it! The visit was organised by one of our plot-holders, Michelle, a deputy childcare manager at The Paddocks Nursery & Pre-School here in Wivey.

The eight children, accompanied by Michelle and Beth, identified vegetables such as onions, potatoes, sweetcorn and peas as they made their way to Michelle's family plot. There, they were able to pull up potatoes and collect and eat peas, black and redcurrants and raspberries.

After a drink, the children did some drawings and signed the allotment visitors book. They got to try eating some flower petals (calendula) which they all really liked. Finally, they headed back for lunch laden with big bunches of sweet peas to take home with them.

Michelle said: "It was a great day and the children thoroughly enjoyed their time at the allotment. They learned a lot and particularly loved digging up the potatoes. Thank you for letting us visit."
