How to Store Chilli Peppers

If you've done well and grown plenty of chilli peppers you might be wondering what to do with them now. Eat any damaged chillies first then try out these options for storing the rest of your crop.

The easiest way is just to thread and hang them in an airy place until needed. If you have a lot, you could make a ristra, which is a really decorative way to display them.

If you'd rather dry and store your chillies then put them in the airing cupboard or lay them on a rack in a sunny windowsill for a week. Quicker methods are to slice and bake them in the oven for a few hours or use a food dehydrator if you have one. Once dry, store in an airtight container.

Another great way to store your chilli peppers is to preserve them in olive oil. Make sure you cook them well first though - grilling is ideal. Slice or chop the chillies to the size you want to use, cover with olive oil in a jar and store in a dark place.

Hasta luego amigos!
