If you haven't paid a visit to the re-use shop at Taunton tip (recycling centre) you are missing out on some bargains.
The shop has many vintage items on offer inside but for the allotment holder the real gems are outside. We have bought a compost bin for a fiver and good garden tools for a few pounds. Pick up a chair or bench for your plot or a sand-pit and toys to keep the kids occupied. We have seen wheelbarrows, lawn-mowers and hand trucks. The stock changes weekly but there is always something useful to be had.
Giving a new home to second-hand items is even better than re-cycling so do visit the re-use shop, local charity shops, and internet sites like Freecycle, Gumtree and Preloved before buying anything new for your allotment.
