Compost Awareness Week 2018
To mark International Compost Awareness Week 2018 we held an open Compost Making Workshop at the allotments yesterday. Kindly hosted by Kim on plot 20, a group of us enjoyed a cuppa and an illuminating chat about how to make remarkable compost.
We discussed the various 'ingredients' of the heap - the fuel which will make the compost, and the vital 'activator' needed to get it all going. Kim also explained the importance of aerating and turning the heap.
Good compost is a key element in growing great healthy vegetables, free to make, and keeps waste out of landfill sites. What's not to like?
