Nematode Challenge

Exciting News! Isabelle (plot 15) has been selected for the 2019 BASF Nematode Challenge. She is one of just 25 allotment holders chosen to take part in the trial which lasts over the main growing season.

Nematodes are parasites which infest and attack their host from within, making them a very effective predator. Because they are host-specific, the nematodes are harmless to plants and other wildlife.

Isabelle is trialling the Nemaslug product. So far, she has mixed the first batch with water and applied to her allotment. There is enough in each box to treat 100 sq ft. and she will receive another two batches. At the end of the trial, Isabelle will complete a report for BASF.

BASF is a sussex-based company which grows beneficial nematodes for pest control. The challenge is launched exclusively in conjunction with the National Allotment Society, of which we are a member.
