Garlic Scapes
It seems everyone is eating garlic scapes at the moment! Those of us who've grown hard neck garlic at the allotment have harvested a nice handful of the emerging flower heads as the plants start to go to seed.
Garlic scapes are a once-a-year delicacy so it's important to make the most of them. We tossed them in olive oil, sea salt and pepper and lightly grilled them for a delicious garlicky asparagus-like treat.
More photos below. Julia said she left hers under the grill a fraction too long and ended up with burned tips, so do keep a close eye on them!
