The Fourth Golden Globe Artichoke Awards

As Hollywood gears up for its glitzy awards ceremony, presumably via zoom, we are doing our own bit of back-slapping here in Somerset after a hiatus last year.

2020 was a strange and difficult year but, looking back, we achieved a surprising amount.

Thankfully, we were able to visit our allotments throughout the pandemic, and many of us emerged from a summer of lockdown with near pristine plots as a result. This high standard made the choice more difficult than usual, but some clear winners still emerged.

The results are as follows:

Megan, plot 7A(1) – photo above, Jeff’s plot in background
Best Half Plot:
Jeff, plot 7B

Jane, plot 9 – photo below

Best Individual Contribution:

Really, the list could go on and on, such is the high standard of our members, so well done everyone!

A special mention to our hard-working and dedicated committee members (and partners) who organise and turn up at the myriad working parties and events throughout the year, and do much work behind the scenes to maintain the communal assets for the benefit of everyone.

We couldn’t do this without the support and willingness to help of our members and we consider ourselves fortunate to have such a great allotment community – thank you all!

Here’s to a happy, healthy and hopeful year ahead for all of us.
